Is often the result,
and the disparity
When we question our 'reality'.
All I'm doing is thinking outside the 'box'
of the orthodox,
away from the norm,
but it creates a shitstorm
of offended world views, so carefully constructed
and dogmatically instructed,
but fragile as glass, if my little ass
can invoke such crash
and vehement backlash!
for simply asking,
'what DO you think?' ...over a drink
with a longstanding friend
who I now seem to offend...

'And what the hell's That?
What does it mean?'...
he shockingly screams, at the newly seen
ink on my arm, as it causes him harm.
And up pop his doubts,
and I feel his fear,
yet he doesn't want to hear,
let alone query,
what he holds to so dearly.

But with love my dear friend,
we ARE allowed
to change our avowed,
and take a peek behind
our mental confines
Besides...
"The unexamined life is not worth living"
So you have to be willing...
and curious
...but you just seem furious
that I'm different now
and happier somehow.
I thought you'd be pleased,
instead of aggrieved.
So lob that insult
and say I've joined a 'cult'!
